Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data AnimeSite (the “Service”) collects, and why and how we use it. We collect as little data as possible — only what the account and the Service need to work.

What data we collect

• Account data: your e-mail (or your Google identifier and name when you sign in with Google) and a display name.
• Viewing data: your lists, ratings, watch history and progress, and notification subscriptions.
• Technical data: your IP address and the service logs required for operation and security.

Why we use it

The data is needed to provide and maintain the Service: to sync your lists across devices, resume playback at the right episode and minute, build recommendations, send notifications about new episodes, and keep accounts secure. We do not use your data for purposes not listed here without your consent.

Cookies and analytics

The Service’s main cookie is technical: a secure httpOnly session cookie required to sign in to your account. We do not use advertising trackers.

For visit statistics we use Yandex Metrica. It sets its own cookies, collects anonymized visit data (pages, referrals, device, browser, approximate location by IP) and records sessions with Session Replay — cursor movement, clicks and scrolling — so we can see where the interface gets confusing. Values typed into input fields are not recorded. The processing is governed by Yandex’s privacy policy; you can opt out with Yandex’s opt-out tool or by enabling your browser’s do-not-track setting.

Please note: the embedded Kodik player may use cookies and technologies of its own — those are governed by Kodik’s policy.

Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your data. We rely on a limited set of services the site needs to run:

• Kodik — a third-party video player embedded for playback.
• Google — when you sign in with Google (sign-in is governed by Google’s policy).
• Yandex Metrica — anonymized visit statistics and session recordings (Session Replay).
• Email provider — for confirmation and password-reset emails.
• Hosting (Railway) — the servers are located in the US, so data may be processed outside your country.

Storage and deletion

You can view and change your data in your account. To delete your account and the data tied to it, contact support. After deletion, data may remain in backups for some time before it is removed.

Security

We use HTTPS encryption, store passwords only in hashed form, and the session is protected by an httpOnly cookie that is not exposed to third-party scripts. That said, no method of transmitting data over the internet is completely secure.

Changes

This policy may be updated. The current version is always available on this page, with the date of the latest update at the top.
